Stiftelsen Malmö Konsthall av år 1931 delar ut två stipendier onsdagen den 28 maj kl 18 på Smak, Malmö Konsthall. Efter utdelningen blir det presentationer med konstnärerna i C-salen. Årets stipendiater är malmökonstnärerna Lena Mattsson och Viktor Rosdahl.
Alla är välkomna!
Lena Mattsson arbetar måleriskt och skulpturalt med rörlig bild. Hennes verk präglas av magisk realism där gestaltningen av enkla vardagssituationer fylls av en djupare symbolik. Med ett poetiskt och djupt associativt bildspråk undersöker hon samhället, livet och teman av existentiell karaktär. Samtiden är alltid närvarande liksom det politiska, även då hon refererar till det förflutna. I hennes verk hittar man också ofta anspelningar till konst- och filmhistorien. Allt växer fram till en helhet. Magin man upplever inför hennes verk ligger mycket i det faktum att hon lyckas smälta samman de olika dimensionerna och ge en känsla av transparens, enkelhet och direkthet.
Lena Mattssons konstnärskap är också mycket uppmärksammat internationellt, hennes filmer visas världen runt och vinner många priser. Två av hennes filmer presenterades genom Wild Filmmaker i Cannes i år.
The Malmö Konsthall Foundation of 1931 will award two scholarships on Wednesday, May 28 at 6:00 PM at Smak, Malmö Konsthall. Following the award ceremony, there will be presentations with the artists in C-hall. This year's scholarship recipients are Malmö artists Lena Mattsson and Viktor Rosdahl.

Lena Mattsson works painterly and sculpturally with moving images. Her works are characterized by magical realism, where the depiction of simple everyday situations is imbued with deeper symbolism. With a poetic and deeply associative visual language, she explores society, life, and themes of an existential nature. The present is always evident, as is the political, even when she references the past. Her works also frequently contain allusions to art and film history. Everything comes together into a cohesive whole. The magic experienced in her works lies largely in her ability to fuse these different dimensions, creating a sense of transparency, simplicity, and immediacy.
Lena Mattsson’s artistry has also garnered significant international attention; her films are screened worldwide and have won numerous awards. Two of her films were presented through Wild Filmmaker in Cannes this year.
